Samini Conquers Africa, Now Ready For The World

Once again, Samini has flown the flag of Ghana up high, making Africa and the whole black race very proud. Known as “The King of African Dancehall”, the young Ghanaian Afro reggae star, presently the best stage blazer in the whole of Africa has added an award to the array of awards he has already won. Music of Black Origin Award 2006 winning artist and multiple Ghana Music Awards winner, Samini real name Emmanuel Samini has currently, won the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards for Best Performer in Africa.
The stage collaboration of the day was between Haitian super star Wyclef Jean, Samini and Nameless from Kenya. The International trio paid tribute to the late African reggae icon Lucky Dube during their performance, while Wyclef and Akon did a tribute to the late pop star Michael Jackson.
As the only Ghanaian who was nominated for this year’s awards, Samini stress that he took the award on behave of all Ghanaians. He thanked all Ghanaians and fans all over Africa for voting for him to win yet another award. Samini graced the MAMAs this year with manager, Tony Pun and Megees of R2Bees fame to support him on stage. According to Samini it was yet another opportunity, to meet with the crème de la crème of old and new professionals in the music industry from Africa and the world over.
“My first appreciation goes to Jah for seeing me through”. Personally Samini believes this award has putting him, a step beyond his peers “This means I have being able to make my music known and accepted by the people in Africa. Now am hitting the world out there”. Samini said.
According him, he is ready to face the challenges the award comes with and has even given him the urge to go beyond Africa. His focus now is to take his music to the people in Europe, America, Asia, the Caribbean and all over the world. Samini was nominated for the same category, in last year’s maiden edition held in Nigeria but was won by Jozi from South Africa. This year other contenders for the best performers category were P-Square (Nigeria), D’Banj (Nigeria), Nameless (Kenya) and Blu3 (Uganda).
He won two awards: Hiplife artist of the year and New hiplife artist of the year, with his maiden “Dankwansre” album and went ahead to win three awards in the 2007 Ghana Music Awards with his second album titled “Samini” . He won the African artistes of the year in 2008 at Hip Hop World Awards held in Nigeria. He was also nominated for MTV EMA Awards in Germany, Channel ‘O’ Music Video Awards in South Africa and Radiophonie Price in France.
Samini who hails from Wa in the upper West region, Ghana West Africa was born in 1982 to Mr G.A Samini and Theresa Nusala. At the age of nine he realized the potential in him and would be attracted to anything musical. From a small beginning in Dansoman (DC) a suburb of Accra, Samini has transformed into a house hold name and a great brand that all co-operate bodies wish to associate themselves with, this huge rising music icon. Samini is presently gearing up to begin a nationwide tour in Ghana to perform in all ten regions, starting from Kumasi the capital of the Ashanti region on November 14, 2009.
