My Experiences at Samini’s Tour In Kumasi

Every doubt about Samini being the best performer in Africa must stop because Samini showed his unique style of entertaining the crowd to the people of Kumasi on the 13th of November to start his four region tour. Samini took the crowd on an unforgettable journey of the best performance one can ask for.
The show opened with the all-female dance quartet SUPERBABES, who did a splendid mix of various dance choreographies, solo and dance battle, all in a ten-minute dance piece. They were followed by an outstanding stage act by R&B dude SL (Skinny Legend), then Zionites of Samini Music, rocked some vital dancehall vibes. The stage was then left for a minute each freestyle by eight of Kumasi’s best underground performers aided on stage by Kumasi’s number one DJ, Andy Dosty. MTN used the opportunity to give out two KIA Sorento vehicles to proud winners in its on-going “2010 GO” promotion.
It will take much creativity for any musician to get on stage like the way Samini did, I must say it was an outstanding stage craft. I can not give a perfect picture of the way Samini got on stage but imagine the crowd surrounding Samini as he gets down from his jeep to take photos of him. Samini walked boldly under the stage, the next thing every body saw was Samini on stage.
Samini started rocking the crowd with a song from his new album with the Shabo crew band. Let me give a roll call of the band, Bronzy and Taylor were on the keyboard playing like kiki, Osei on the drums, will give you a feel of real reggae tone, Sunday, the only rasta dude on the band plays the konka, Ivy ,Adez and Danny the three backing vocalist did sound like Rita Marley backing Bob Marley. Taco started every song for Samini with his guitar.
Samini being the most featured artiste in Ghana, sang songs he had made with artiste, it took the crowd back to the days when Samini performed with k.k Fosu, King Daivd ,kokoveli, and those where the days he had braids on. He performed songs from great artistes like Kojo Antwi and Bob Marley. When one takes his mind back to the days when Samini used to perform with the Trinity then you would know the brother can dance. He did his favorite dance hall moves with his two dancers Shaka and Tu YE Me.
Lord Kenya, the God father of Kumasi trilled the crowd with his highly energetic performances. Okyeame Kwame tried to show to the crowd that the he best rapper alive by performing with a band.
Samini rocked 5OOO crowd in Kumasi at the Heroes park at Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the show was the first show to start his four region tour in Kumasi,Tamale Tardi and Accra. The tour is dubbed Samini Experience Ghana 2009 which is sponsored by the leading communications giant in Ghana MTN, which has 10 million subscribers.
The Kumasi event had support from Metro TV, Hi Newspaper, M-Plaza Travel and Tour, Blazing Gear, K-FM, Hello FM, Fox FM and Mckeown Restaurant and Catering Services. The tour is being powered by M-biz Africa Ltd and Karl Aubyn Multimedia for Samini Music.
The tour bus with entourage made up of 72 crew members and performers eventfully stormed the garden city on November 12, 2009 amidst live radio coverage. Kwame Dzokoto’s Drive show on Hello FM was the team’s first studio interview. By then Samini had done 11 interviews on his way to Kumasi by phone. Kumasi based musicians Okyeame Kwame, Lord Kenya and Bradez showed him around
The first I saw Samini rehearsed with a live band in Nana King’s house three years ago, I had no doubts on my mind that Samini will one day be the best performer in Africa. The bus tour will stop on 28th November in Tamale. Get your advance tickets because the Dagaati music icon is going back home.
